Whistles
The "Bangham" Resonator Whistle.
This whistle was designed by Larry Bangham of Los Angeles and
consists of a small whistle for mounting outside the cab with the resonating
chamber and operating valve inside the cab, it gives a deeper note than a
normal organ pipe whistle.
The whistles will be supplied in several different formats for
different types of engine, and will be supplied with the required Steam Valve,
pipes and tubing, plus fitting and tuning instructions and are listed as
follows:-

1. Straight Whistle for mounting through the roof
of the cab with the Chamber underneath.
Height of whistle from chamber, approx 1.5".

Fits between the frames and replaces one of the cross stretchers.
Gives that beautiful low note typical of the large USA engines.

Note, a suitable steam connection to your boiler
will be required, for those engines with "banjo" fittings on the
Pressure Gauge then a hole can be drilled in the banjo and the supply pipe
Silver Soldered into it, this operation can be carried out by DJB Model
Engineering, ring for details.
For Roundhouse engines we offer a free service, when ordering, for fitting a
connection into your Regulator Housing. 1/8" OD brass pipe is supplied for
the steam supply to the valve, and rubber hose for the supply from the valve to
the whistle.
Custom piping can be supplied to fit your engine, engine details and sizes will
be required. |

Top right:- Roundhouse R/C Regulator with extension and steam supply for
Whistle.
Centre:- Whistle Valve with fixing bracket.
Left side:- Whistle with Resonator which fits down the side of the boiler,
Whistle is mounted on the Cab Front Plate.
Top:- Rubber pipe and ties for connecting Valve to Whistle.
We will need your Regulator Housing for modification.
If you are using R/C on the whistle the Valve will need mounting and Servo
positioned to suit. |

Cab front type whistle for either the
Old type engine (red) where the cab rear comes off, or the newer type engine
(blue) where the cab roof opens.
Please state which type when ordering.
Complete kit with full instructions and all parts.
Note your Regulator will be required as it needs a steam supply fitting silver
soldered into it, this service is free when ordering the whistle. |
